October 12, 2011- 

I have something HUGE brewing. No, I mean HUGE. I can't wait til I can share it with the world. Wasn't sure whether I could ever accomplish something so major and I certainly didn't think I'd get there this early in my life. All I know is that God is everything and my faith is strengthened daily by His favor. I am finally ready to think of myself as "successful."

October 13, 2011- So...I should start to think about:

• transitioning away from acrylic nails (for the first time in 10, count them, TEN years)
• stockpiling specialty beauty products such as Dr. Bronner's soap, Elasta QP shampoo and Fantasia IC gel
• possibly learning to do my own braids and extensions
• getting lasik eye surgery to preclude the hassle of contact prescriptions
• creating a mobile spirits collection
• making sure that I figure out how to fit in ONE clothing size for an extended period of time
• learning how to manage my own health...nothing major, just when/how to treat and diagnose minor issues
• finding (or learning to make) a highly effective yet toxin-free insect repellant
• getting a coupla more universal electric plug adapters
• acquiring as much electronic music as possible
• figuring out the legal implications of operating my business from abroad, while maintaining persistent domestic contacts

I haven't seen or heard from my lil cuz in a month of Sundays. Last we saw each other, he predicted that by now i'd be living in a hut speaking Patois

I got some news last week that has negatively impacted my work ethic. IDK if they're ever going to see high output from the kid again. True story.

Relaxing in my library with a glass of rum punch, listening to steel pan and preparing for the next chapter in my life. God is amazing.

I've never been a blog-type (I'm more of a message board cat, just saying) but here's the thing: (1) I'm generally obsessed with documenting the goings-on in my life for review in my old age; (2) the twitter streets are no longer safe for the likes of Roland Martin and myself; (3) as an only child and opinionated millennial, I feel very comfortable sharing my innermost thoughts with a nameless, faceless audience of unknown size. Therefore, I think I can handle this.

What else might you need to know before we get started? Oh, yes. iCodeswitch. I slide easily between normal educated Negro parlance, language fit for West Baltimore, the sing-songy colloquialisms commonly heard in rural Trinidad and a little Dominican-style Espanol for good measure.  I sometimes start sentences with transitional phrases.  And I don't fool with swear words, caffeine or oxford commas.  Also, I use random hashtags. #dealwithit
